Ambulight: Acne at a glance
In parallel to the development of the Ambulight PDT for skin cancer treatment, Ambicare are developing ambulatory light sources for cosmetic and beauty treatment. The first of these products is 'Ambulight Acne' which will be used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne.
There is a significant body of scientific literature providing a firm basis for the effective use of light in the treatment of acne. Two of the main contributing factors in the development of acne are;
- Excess production of sebum within the skin
- Elevated levels of a bacterium called Propionibacteria acnes (P. acnes) also within the skin.
Control at your fingertips
The Ambulight Acne device consists of three flexible light emitting patches, each of which contains Ambicare's patented light emitting technology. Each of these light sources is connected via an electrical cable to a hub that is worn around the neck. The hub then in turn is connected to a hand held controller.
Designed for comfort
Each of the patches adheres to the skin with a disposable interface layer; one on the forehead and one per cheek. Once the device and the patches are attached they become illuminated providing a treatment that helps keep the P. Acnes bacteria at bay.
Revolutionary Light Technology
As well as being able to treat skin cancer via PDT, Ambicare Health's ambulatory light source technology is applicable to light therapy in the cosmetic and beauty therapy. In fact, the ambulatory nature of Ambicare Health's technology makes it particularly suitable for daily cosmetic treatments.
